They might not have been our own purrsonal furbabies, but we loved them as if they were our own, welcoming them into our homes and our hearts through social media.

BUBBY. This 3-legged furmer street cat won the hearts of fans and followers with his sweet sad-eyed stare. Unfurtunately, cancer took this sweet beast over the Rainbow Bridge.

COOKIE MONSTER. She was one of the many cats in the House of Nekko; as a spokeskitty fur the non-purrofit Zen By Cat, she was an advo-cat fur cats with FIP. Even though she lost her battle with lymphoma, her mission lives on.

RAYMOND THE QUAKE CAT. He survived a major earthquake in New Zealand, was rescued by the Cats Protection League and appurred in the book Quake Cats. Raymond was diagnosed with lymphoma and died shortly after. He is remembered fondly by the Cats of Instagram commewnity of furiends.

SWAY. Little Swayze was found on the side of the road by Salty Animal Rescue. He had severe CH, but Sway will be remembered fur more than his wobbly walk – he was a loving companion to his foster pawrents (Humans to Mira the Miracle Kitty) and his best furiend, a dog named Emery.

CHASE NO FACE. As a kitten, Chase lost her face after being struck by a car. Despite this cat-astrophe, she had a pawesome quality of life, was well-loved, and lived to almost 16 years of age. 

BUTTERS. He was a handsome hunk of a commewnity cat. His caretaker, James, describes him as a “very unique cat.” Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly from cardiac arrest, leaving us brokenhearted.

SUNSHINE THE CAT.  Sunny was a loving lap cat and purrfessional snuggler. He lived a meowraculous 21 1/2 years. We are grateful that his family shared him with the world.

MEOW MEOW. Despite her purrpetually frowny face, this beautiful girl was actually “a very very sweet fur family.” When Meow Meow needed radioactive iodine therapy for hyperthyroidism, her Humom mortgaged her house to fly her to America to receive treatment. We should all be so furtunate to be loved so purrfoundly.

BIFF THE CAT. This fluffy rescue cat known for his big eyes and perma-blep struggled with serious health issues, and when his breathing worsened, his pawrent made the difficult decision to let him go.

SMEEGLE. After 14 years, this tiny feline with facial diffurences left this earth. Says his Human, “His love was a solid and unconditional love that I will never forget.”

PONZU COOL CAT. This Instagram Supurr-star’s heart gave out after a freak accident in a local park, which was followed by a shocking hate crime against his owner. RIP Ponzu. Your Instagram family mourns with you.

STACHE. The beloved Oriental Shorthair with a mustache adored his Mom meowr than anything. When he passed at only 7 ½ years old from kidney disease, he left his famous Hobbikats fursiblings behind… and left a hole in our hearts furever.

MISS T. This cancer survivor was earless and fearless. A senior furmer shelter cat, she passed away peacefully on her beloved electric heatpad.

PORKCHOP. Pork, who was known as a “tubby tabby” – weighing in at 35 lbs – passed from heart disease, leaving behind her two fursiblings, Pistachio and Beans.

CASSANDRA WANTS HER CLAWS BACK. A passionate anti-declawing advo-cat, Cassandra raised awareness – and a few hackles – in her fight to outlaw this cruel practice. She passed at 16 years old, but her legacy lives on.

DEWEY THE PERSIAN. This sweet floofy boi unexpectedly passed away at age 13, quickly and painlessly from what was most likely a stroke. We will always remember his sweet heart-shaped nose.

GRANDPA THE KITTEN. He may not have been on this earth long, but this itty-bitty kitty made a big impurression. Despite his twisted legs and cleft palate, this special needs kitten had a strong will to live and thrive, but that wasn’t enough for his tiny, broken body which eventually gave out. Says his rescuer from Stray Cat Alliance, “(I’m) hoping that you are now in a place where you can run and play.”

NILLA BEAN. This special needs cat was born with spinal, sternum and leg deformities along with cerebellar hypoplasia. During her short life, she was an advo-cat fur diffurently abled cats and animals everywhere. She passed away from neurological complications, but her mission continues.

SNICKER. This pawpular blind boy was a spokespurrson for Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary, Inc. Sadly, he developed health complications and passed away under anesthesia.

GATSBY. He was a purrfectly impurrfect rescue cat living in Australia. After a lifetime of respiratory infections due to bad breeding, he contracted FIP and finally let go.

ROSWELL THE CAT. This silly Sphynx whose Humans described her as “chonky chip cookie dough” was a sweet alien girl whose heart gave out, breaking our hearts in the purrocess.

ELFIE. She was part of a duo of rescued munchkin cats – Elfie and Gimli. After many major health issues, this mewnique little cat with so many challenges left her family after 8 loving years.

NUGGET THE BLIND KITTY. This tiny kitten didn’t know he was diffurent – he was adventurous and loved exploring the world around him. Sadly, he passed away from respiratory arrest.

HERMAN. This snaggle-toothed special needs cat was furst rescued by Milo’s Sanctuary. His became the handsome face fur cats that are “diffurent but not less.” He was placed in a furever with a fursibling named Bear, who also has severe Cerebellar Hypoplasia. We take comfurt in knowing that Herman lived his best life.

ZARATHUSTRA. The subject and inspurration for Fat Cat Art, Zarathustra was a majestic work of art himself. His heart failed from complications due to pancreatitis and peritonitis. We are furever grateful that he has been immortalized in the art that he impurroved with his purresence.

COLE THE BLACK CAT. As one half of the Internet-famous duo, Cole and Marmalade, this handsome panther became a viral sensation when he was a mere kitten playing “stick-em-up.”  Fans enjoyed watching him and his fursiblings at the Cat Videofest, and on their own YouTube channel which has garnered over a million subscribers. Despite a brave fight, Cole passed away from cancer, leaving a cat-size black hole in our hearts forever.
